27 Derpy and Delightful Doggos Harking Back to the Early Days of Internet Memes

Early internet days were the best. The Y2K era was especially fun and flirty, taking from all aspects of comedy, absurdity, and experimentation. It was like the wild west of the internet – nothing censored, everything carefree, and easy to find your own niche within the fabric of a hard and soft drive. From YouTube videos like Kelly, and Charlie the Unicorn, to memes that united people of all statures and status's. Before algorithms learned our habits, before feeds were curated within an inch of their lives, and before memes were carefully optimized for engagement, there was a simpler time on the internet. When lo-fi thrived, misspelling was encouraged, and no one was trying to sell you anything except the idea that dogs are perfect.

Dog owners of spanning generations can all get behind the humor, love, and memes these days too. Algorithms seem to run our lives and listen to our every thought, but who can even complain about that when it means dog memes will appear in the palm of your hand? You get to wake up, scroll doggo memes, and start your day with smiles and canine cuddles, even if it's by phone.

Early internet days is when people didn't pose, no one was frenetically taking photos and trying to be the first to post it on Instagram, where your dogs could exist comfortably without trying, without posing, and without spiraling every other day about the lives of other dogs. Who care if Mr. Hotdog just opened a business? And no one really blinked an eye when Miss Fluffy-tail got engaged. We spend so much of our days comparing ourselves to others, when it would be better to invite a little bit of nostalgia into our lives to relive a sensory free existence.

It's hard to imagine the trajectory of life as we know it, and how internet culture will continue to change. But one thing we do know, is that dogs and dog memes are here to stay. Whether you own a pupper for yourself or not doesn't matter. The only thing we know for sure is that dogs are absolutely, pawdorably pawdorable and their cuteness and lightness that they add to our lives will never go away.
